Syria: A corner shop supplies the world's press


The "Syrian Observatory for Human Rights", in the use of the world press, consists of a small and lonely business. It is not able to name sources neither to confirm anything they publish to the world press. It communicates only via Skype and Email but is still financial supported by the "unknown members” this business and their website. Nobody knows each other in reality but they suggest that all people (members) are just normal people.


Qui bono - who use the strange stories about Syria? 


The "Syrian Observatory for Human Rights" which uses a Facebook Page with less friends on this social network seems to be the "primary source for information about the anti-Assad rebellion" as the "Middle East Online" wrote about it. And indeed it looks like all German corporate and state media operate with this Facebook Page and its members and pray the same like the operator of this site who calls himself Rami Abdel Rahman (by the way it seems to be no surprise that he calls himself “Rahman”).


He lives in Coventry and says that there is no observation point which “resists” in London. The lies which are confirmed as lies by this Facebook Page out of Coventry goes into the thousands and it looks like the operator and its members doesn’t shy away about a new edition of the incubator lie which blew up very quickly. It’s sure a good question why this questionable source is presented and promoted by the German State-TV ARD as a neutral human rights organization. 


The virtual "observatory" 


According to "Middle East Online" (http://www.middle-east-online.com/english/?id=47427) this "observation point" is just a "one man show".

"Thousands of miles from home Rami Abdel Rahman operates a network of 200 activists in Syria who report to him. This allows him to spread the latest news about bloodshed in Syria."


"'We are all normal people with normal everyday life. We have no office. We work from home or from work. “ says Abdel Rahman, 40, in a telephone interview from Coventry in England. The so called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) appeared on the scene as the primary source of information for the media world since the anti-government movement broke out in Syria in mid-March." 


Without any problems they publish confessions that these so called "activists" in Syria get their findings mostly out of hospital lists and messages to bring them on the first few pages of the newspapers. Great – these „activists" know through the name of a person what happened and recapitulate these “findings” to their site and the media worldwide. All members of this questionable small network are somehow confidential and do not know each other. 


The contacts go through Skype, Gmail and non-registered phone numbers. Abdel Rahman's critics questioned his trustworthiness and accuse him of being a member of the Muslim Brotherhood – meanwhile Damascus is accusing him that his mission is about destabilizing the country." 


Let us recall this statement from Rahman for example: 


"... I am independent. We receive no money ... The Centre and the website is funded by its members .... " 


“Middle East Online” contacted him and reported about this: 


“The observatory was founded 5 years ago. The unknown Abdel Rahman went to Coventry in 2000 because he could be arrested at home because of his activities. He runs a small shop that sells books and clothing ..” 


This is the tragic truth. From this really questionable mini-source on its private cloud are the horror stories which spread through the world press. For example the (German) GEZ stations spread this lies from this “grocery store” - despite their own huge number of foreign offices.


The parallels to the war in Libya


These parallels are dramatic and can guess really bad stuff behind it. Also in February 2011 the United Nations failed to check the dubious opposition organizations abroad from Switzerland and London which sold these air numbers as a massacre. No one reviewed these allegations and finally a War ensued.


The members of these networks and of the "National or transitional councils" (at least 2 about Syria – in contrast to what Westerwelle thinks or sells) are unknown and as always this is said to be for "security reasons”. Otherwise their links to the West would become public. The main operators always sit in the west and own passports from NATO countries.


Like this shady Rami Abdel Rahman which is supported through unknown sources to run his finally non-existent “observatory”.

Al Jazeera Tries to Defend its ill Reporting from Syria & We Strip It Naked

As usual & expected from NATO Warmonger channel Al Jazeera one sided stories: All media especially Al Jazeera was present in Libya, and restricting journalists there as we all know was by NATO rebels & not by Gaddafi, yet all information warmongers like AJA was reporting was 99% fiction & biased against Gaddafi, the fact that Seiful Islam, Gaddafi son was reported captured & redistributed in a crucial time to hit his supporters to the extent that an ICC official comes out & asks NTC to deliver him without harm then the same person drives to Bab Al Azizieh by his car & not detained and in the same square reported to be taken over by NATO rebels tells a lot about independent foreign journalists, especially Al Jazeera.

Despite the fact the regime in Syria successfully discredited all the reports the Al Jazeera & sisters from the NATO Allies in the case of Zainab Al Hosni, we see Nir Rosen, one of your heavily involved journos in Syria talk about another body shown on his channel & asks who she was, indicating that he didn't watch Addounia TV mocking his channel & all other warmongers when showing & proving that the 'other body' reported was nothing but a mannequin cut & burnt and even in a closer look when Addounia froze the cam, the steel joint for the armpit was so clear in the images, but why bother, who will watch banned Addounia channel on the European satellite in the name of free media and discredit Al Jazeera Stories..!

Credible media channels would feel ashamed when caught misleading audience once and tend to be more careful in scrutinizing any new material before airing it in order to regain trust of its audience, this didn't happen in the Al Jazeera case where hundreds of Youtube videos, shaky films, photos and 'eye witness' stories were refuted with undoubted evidences by State TV & Addounia and tens of activists took efforts to clarify to the world that what is shown falls in the propaganda and not fact reporting media games.

Live protests in July of protesters wearing heavy winter clothes and cloudy skies, reports of Al Hourani Hospital in the city of Hama being razed by 'indiscriminate tanks shelling' that razed also other cities like Talk Kalakh, Baniyas, Jisr Al Shughour, Harem, Bu Kamal, Der Ezzor, Daraá; Navy Ships bombing Al Raml Palestinian camp in Latakkia, and so many other daily stories were all lies and a visit to all these areas prove that not a single tank used a single projectile against a single target in any of these areas or anywhere else in Syria, yet the story moves from one place to another without learning from previous lessons, it only proves that either the guys editing the news in Al Jazeera & NATO sisters don't do their homework in verifying the info before broadcasting it, or they follow a certain plan to keep broadcasting lies disregarding their authenticity, or finally they disrespect their viewers minds and self-analytic.

Also, can you tell the viewers where did 900,000 protesters in Hama & 400,000 protesters in Der Ezzor disappear? How did they fit in the Assi square in Hama & in the main square in Der Ezzor, respectively when each cannot fit more than 40,000 human beings packed 4 in each square meter?! Since you reported these masses in July and after the city was opened and cleansed from NATO agents all these 'masses' disappeared, and if you say that army or whatever security force can keep 1.2 Million people at home and away from protesting, you'll be insulting your own intelligence. 

And when you see over 2 million pro-govt citizens fill Omayyad Square which is 14 meters wider than Tahrir square in Cairo in diameter, add to it the very wide 7 attached roads you say 'thousands rallied in support of Assad' I tell you guys, you lost it big time. And when you say in your reporting of Aleppo 1.5 Million in Saad Allah Jabri Square, that these people rallying in support of president Assad because they "feel obliged to rally for the regime that has given them advantage over the rest of the country and that it has protected their business interests" that's a total stupidity, sorry to say; tens or even hundreds can be described like this and people might buy it, but if the 'regime managed to protect the interest' of 1.5 million in one city alone Aleppo, that means the 'regime' is doing a great job serving the whole country that its total population doesn't exceed 23 million, out of which over 55% under the age of 15!!!

In Syria, and among the public Al Jazeera managed to set a new standard, now when someone wants to discredit a friend's story he'd tell him: You become a more liar than Al Jazeera.

Keeping such media outside the country at a very sensitive time has served to protect the truth of events and not just to keep the president seated as you mentioned in your reportage. 

Sad to say that in spite the fact that the Syrian govt has recently allowed all foreign media to re-enter Syria based on the Arab League initiative, I personally wouldn't advice you as Al Jazeera to go there as it'll useless, you already lost credibility big time, and to regain it will require so long time until all the existing generations that witnessed your biased, discredited, one sided reporting, all of them forget this warmongering propaganda you demonstrated and a new generation comes up and might accept to watch your news again.

Syria Is Stronger Than Libya, Slow Down, Kill Them In Slow Motion

The question is not whether it's ethical to attack this country or that, topple this regime or that, bomb these civilians to protect them or not any more, neoconservative mouthpieces' concerns are now: What are the capabilities of this country? How much it will cost us to bomb it? Will we lose any casualties? How much oil we get in reward?


That's why this article isn't about should US impose a puppet ruler for Syria other than the existing who might accept all our terms, this article from its title starts by a warning: Syria is stronger than Libya?! Syria's strategical location. The Syrian army capabilities.. and on.


So it's not about democracy or 'Protecting People' obviously, it's about invading a 3rd Middle East Country in 1 decade, force changes to the social, economics and geo-strategy of these countries: suck their oil, and in the case of Syria the goal is very obvious: Protect israel. To achieve so, the puppet ruler the CIA is preparing should do the following:


1. Sign a peace treaty with israel.
2. Accept to nationalize 600,000 Palestinians in Syria and abolish their right to return to their homeland.
3. Golan Heights to be leased to israel for a further 99 years hoping Anti-Christ might show up in the meantime.
4. Secure water resources for israel.
5. Since you control Syria, Lebanon comes as a package, same conditions applies including disarming Lebanese resistance, securing water from Litani, nationalizing Palestinians in Lebanon, forget occupied territories in South Lebanon.. etc..
6. The puppet leader should work on an overhaul to the Syrian community to force concentrations based on ethnic and religious backgrounds in order for future dividing of the country into 4 smaller states that will fight in between on everything.
etc..


But again, wait, WARNING: Syria is much stronger than Libya, you need to consider in your bombing campaign their T72 tanks, their air defense system, their MIGs and Sokhoys and all the other stuff. So let's take our time in tiring the Syrian army into small enclaves of unrest by terrorist we claim we fight while we support, train, finance and control, try to instigate an ethnic civil war, it usually pays off, sanctions, more sanctions and much more sanctions, if we impose sanctions the people will starve then we come to rescue them from the Famine (Somalia example), and of course we don't forget CNN & others who have a vital role in our campaign, keep lying until someone believes you and demonize the existing regime like we did in Libya and someday President Obomber will announce from the White House before his term ends that bombing Syria is over and now there's no people to fight us back because we killed them all.

LA Times Reporter in Lebanon Plays its Role in the Media Game Against Syria

It's either your reporter stationed in neighboring country Lebanon is going dumb or considering your readers as dumb: Do you imagine that a uniformed Syrian soldier would show his face to the camera while abusing detainees and he knows he might face court martial for that?

'Activists' reported, 'Activists' said, 'Activists' mentioned: that's becoming an old and very sick way of reporting news, your so called 'Activists' based in London, UQ (formerly UK but since there's no king) or Stockholm, or Cairo and none in Syria itself; such 'Activists' report news from inside Syria while they are thousands of miles away, I doubt they can give a single piece of reliable news, we've seen examples in Libya like when one of Gaddafi sons reported killed 3 times and 2 others including Saiful Islam was reported detained and same was confirmed by International Criminal Court then they appeared to be false news.

We've seen such reports of 'Activists' of WMDs in Iraq and the US army is still looking for it after more than 8 years.

If you can't report news from inside Syria because the govt blocked you that's not an excuse to copy opposition sources especially when most of those figures are wanted fugitives in major crimes in Syria itself.. So there goes their credibility.

Shootings happening, but how can you confirm it's the govt shooting protesters? What's your methodology in proving that? 'Activists' said?

If govt's security is shooting at the protesters in a random and a heavy way how come a large number of security themselves being killed and by who? Who are those long bearded armed gangs in large numbers appearing in many of the videos using US made weapons not used by Syrian army or security or even by known criminals in Syria? Who is arming, financing, training & smuggling them? Who has access to Afghanistan, many of those groups look like Afghanis, and who has good relations to Taliban and AlQaeda? Well, the conflict in Libya showed us nobody has better relations with AlQaeda than the CIA of the USA itself.

Wake up world, media war is one part of a campaign against a sovereignty of an independent state.

And which story do you believe? Do you still believe that Syrian regime's claims that it's facing armed elements is unfounded like your article is indicating? Maybe you need to update your news that they have already confessed themselves the existence of armed groups, Turkey confessed the same, US confessed the same, only you still doubt?!


4 years prison for 2 guys for a status update on facebook calling for a protest that never happened and nobody was hurt in UK; how would it react if over 500 of its armed forces and security personnel were ambushed, attacked with machine guns and even RPGs? By the way very disturbing footage were distributed of heinous crimes of these groups, only the blind will deny it.

Sorry reporter, but can you prove a single info of above? I have friends in Midan, South of Damascus (not central) who reported that nobody came out yesterday (Friday) after noon prayers or till today morning & they spent the evening in a packed restaurant in the same suburb.

Don't you find it a bit odd that there'se no proof to allegations of Muslim Brotherhood criminal opposition figures living in London for such protests, or fire opening?

If you want to claim that you need to depend on one side for information, and that one side is a collection of few fugitives wanted for crimes they committed in their own country then that's extremely pathetic & unprofessional, not being able to report from inside the country doesn't give you excuse to spread unverifiable information in a repetition to the pre Iraqi invasion scenario of WMDs that they are still looking for after 8 years of destroying the country, killing a million of its people, displacing over 3 million & sending the country decades back in the past. Learn from your previous experiences.

We replied to a reader (user ID Greenland2) directly who apparently is moved by reports of mainstream media coverage of the events of Syria, we tried to give him/ her a lead to analyze:


Greenlands, what do you know about what's happening in Syria? Watching some mainstream media doesn't make you abreast with the situation on ground especially when your MSMs are not reporting from inside the country.. Can you just sit, forget what you see, remember when we saw trucks moving across Iraq loaded with WMDs?, forget what you see for a minute and analyze: a country pictured in MSMs that it's under civil war, over 2,000 peaceful protesters were killed by the regime and '000 protesting daily, yet after 5 months not a single official, diplomat, army officer, a local municipal mayor DEFECTS?! who knows more? You sitting abroad watching mainstream media channel that don't attract viewers if they don't show blood or the Syrian people?

If you think they are afraid then read the article again, written from Beirut, Lebanon, not Syria, the helpless peaceful protesters broke the fear barrier & the powerful officials, even who is living abroad like diplomats still fear?! Wake up for God sake, did you see Obama kick the door after the conference? Do you know how to use digital software to clone and multiply crowds? How about the shaky footages broadcasted? Can't you manipulate it? How many reports from Syria were proved not in Syria? Our Reply to Wolf Blitzer of CNN on His Expectations

I was expecting a more in depth analysis when followed the link from twitter taking in consideration your vast experience in the geopolitics & your close observations from senior politicians in the USA, but take my advice: ask the man not his wife about their encounter with the Syrian leadership and the way events lead in this area of the world, the Clintons I mean.
Syria been under worse than this when it was much powerless than now and it passed it successfully while its enemies suffered losses, a saying of late president Hafez Assad gives you a clear indication how policy is planned in Syria: "We might lose and die, but when we die and fall our bodies will fall on the dead bodies of our enemies". Syria might lose a million of its people per an israeli military & strategic expert, but is israel able to lose a million of its people?"

In a comment we sent the BBC for their silly report (link below) we wrote: 


Can you please explain how did 'Alexander Page' the so called activists claiming to be talking from Damascus count the killed of 30 in the video and 27 in your article despite the long distance between Damascus & Latakia? Adding that he says: Communications are cut?


I have friends in Latakia giving a totally different count of events speaking in their real names and not pseudonymous.


What does the video show above? A coast and in another clip an army troops truck carrier? So much of bombarding..


Don't you have an editor who actually review these news before posting it? Don't you care for your credibility? You think even if you conquer in this media game, people will still believe you after? Take this as a warning: Syrians are not some cave people or living in tents in the old age, this is back-firing on you and other MSMs like Aja & Arabiya. Our Comments Analyzing an LA Times Article Today

Did anybody even bother to edit this BS article before posting it here? Or the Arabic lady who wrote it lacks basics of English language? Let’s see what she wrote in Basic English & comment on the content as well:

Obviously Mr. Erdogan of Turkey after being grilled by his own opposition 2 major parties in Turkey for the arrogant way addressing the southern neighbor with over 800 kms shared borders wanted to appear as a hero claiming credit for the removal of tanks from streets in Hama, Central Syria, the story the writer failed to point out while Mr. Erdogan himself stated, also, seems that the writer, obviously motivated by her political view of Syria alike the Hariri bloc in Lebanon, has also missed the harsh respond Mr. Erdogan’s firm message statement from Syrian officials, after the Prime Minister of Turkey stated that he’ll be dispatching his Foreign Minister Davut Uglo to Syria to deliver a ‘firm message’, received an instant reply from an aide of president Assad, Mrs. Shaaban: “If the Turkish envoy is coming to deliver a firm message, he will hear a more firm message from Syrian leadership condemning Turkey’s ignorance of facts”.

Mr. Uglo was received with frown faces as it was totally obvious in the footage the media displayed from all Syrian delegates in the meeting, President Mr. Assad, the Syrian FM Mr. Moallem, President’s Aide Mrs. Shaaban, and the 4^th delegate to the right of Mr. Assad, which explains that the Syrian leadership didn’t bend to Turkish pressure as claimed which also explains what the reporter mentioned of continuous security operations throughout the country with an exception of pulling armored vehicles from Hama after completing their tasks!

In her efforts to show that the regime in Syria as a bunch of criminals facing civilized communities within the country, the writer uses a very twisted language, she says: “According to the activists, 10,000 soldiers with 32 tanks entered the border area, broke into homes, looted personal belongings and arrested 25 youths” Now in this one sentence the reporter outdone herself in previous articles, or maybe it’s the experience she gained in writing in the same manner each time describing the Syrian Government Forces, how? Let’s take a closer look:

“According to activists”: Since the beginning of events in Syria we started to hear of activists covering the news for foreign media which was expelled due to intended bad conduct of reporting news exactly same like this article, what kind of activists is she referring to? If they are Human Rights Activists, then those HR activists should be recognized and accredited from known agencies, they should be following scientific practices in collecting the data which means they should have a presence in the country, conducting interviews, surveying, filling data forms, cross examining information and then reporting through an organizational method, while what everybody has noticed in the Syrian case, the so called activists are all of ‘one man show’ kiosk offices based abroad Syria, with no presence whatsoever on the ground, so how could they gather, analyze and cross examine the news before distributing their findings? How could so called activists, each leading a Human Rights Organization by himself with no other staff, all based outside the country, all comprised of opposition figures of the ruling government in Syria, and yet they can still from their offices abroad count 10,000 soldiers and 32 tanks! Unless these Activists are not of a Human Rights nature and could be of the same nature of ‘London Rioters’ if we can call them ‘London Activists’.

‘According to activists, 10,000 soldiers with 32 tanks entered the border area’: let’s accept that 10,000 soldiers were counted with their 32 tanks, although I don’t know how you can fit 10,000 soldiers in 32 tanks!! But let’s say they were counted, what does the reporter mean by border area? Is it an area outside the sovereignty of Syrian Government? Or within? If it’s outside then it entered another sovereign country’s land, in other words: invaded another country and in this case that other country is Turkey, as we all know there isn’t a no man zone between the two countries Syria & Turkey; and in case they were within the sovereign borders of Syria, what’s wrong with moving a national army within a country? Especially a country that is facing terrifying terrorist events from killing protesters and security forces at the same time by snipers to provoke a revolution and incite hatred between both, chopping and mutilating dead bodies of security officers and their families, in one case a brigadier in the army was attacked while he was shopping with his family, kidnapped with his 3 children, killed, chopped and all 4 of them sent in plastic bags to their family, such a country facing armed groups that entered from bordering countries attacking public and private properties, torching & looting it and erecting blockades in remote country sides, what would such a country do when these armed groups are armed with similar heavy weapons that the CIA usually provide to gangs it creates to destabilize countries opposing USA policies? Should the government in Damascus accept parts of the country under such threats? Would any country accept that? In UK, almost a 1000 teenagers were arrested, 4 killed and were all called rioters, gangs, mobs… and they weren’t even armed.

“broke into homes, looted personal belongings and arrested 25 youths”: This is remarkable, when a government body assigned a security preserving task they don’t “loot personal belongings” they confiscate suspicious materials. It’s good she used the word “arrested” as some of her colleagues use “kidnap” instead, and then we have “25 youths”: How on Earth did the reporter get the number and ages of those arrested? Activists? It would make more sense to arrest the activist reporting this story whose name is Oday Al Sayyed instead of letting him report this story if he is in the country in addition to those arrested, then how do you define youths? If Mr. Cameron Prime Minister of UK said: “if those committing the riots are capable of committing crimes then they are capable of facing justice” nothing different here.

“I think expanding their offensive along the border is a clear response – even more a challenge – to Turkey,” Al Sayyed said: Now our ‘activist’ has turned into a political analyst with a purpose of provoking a conflict between the two countries. If he does exist which we doubt, then he’s definitely not an HR activist and could be one of those committing crimes with the armed gangs in Syria, unless the writer have created this figure to serve her political alliance in neighboring country Lebanon, as she is also not in Syria.

The rest of the article is self-explained in contrary with the preceding of it, but it goes without saying that most people reading news they skim and mostly satisfied with the beginning part of the news article and do not continue to the end.

Our Comment on The Express Tribune Article about Syria Today

I came to your site through a search I was performing for reliable news but when I read that you based your story on 'activists' I got disappointed sorry to say. The so called Arab Revolts were stained from the beginning by 3 shady elements:


1) Eye Witnesses giving their testimonies to news agencies while sitting hundreds if not thousands of miles away rendering them speculative & unreliable, mostly describing in great details events happening in other cities if not countries.


2) News posted on Social Media platforms including Facebook, YouTube & Twitter, making it impossible to confirm authenticity & in so many cases fake old videos in neighboring countries were uploaded afresh with reference to the country under focus; a large number of such videos were discovered.


3) Human Rights Activists, out of a sudden tens of Human Rights Organizations surfaced from nowhere, based in general abroad the country under focus while specializing in internal events of that country without a single source on ground. In all the testimonies of such HR Orgs the testimony is given to the news agency by the head of the organization in person, simply because all of these organizations are one man show kiosks!


What makes the above dangerous not the inability to verify the information given by the vague sources above, nor the inability of verifying the sources itself, but what makes it really dangerous the intention by some Mainstream Media houses to build a reputation of being the source that touches on what enthusiast want to learn rather than what's really going on, therefore, it'll be competing among each other to attract more audiences by giving higher numbers of casualties of crimes that most of the times never even happened, news of large demonstrations that never took place using the videos referred to above and even in times referring to rallies by regimes as protests against the regime, some of these media houses do so with a profitability intention only, mere business, while some of them unfortunately do it on purpose based on their owners' motives, biggest examples of such media houses are the Pan Arab Al Jazeera Satellite Channel in its Arabic version and a slightly a bit less in its English version, also Al Arabiya, and followed suit BBC Arabic, France24 & CNN.


In the case of Syria, these news stations has given an excuse to broadcast unreliable information as not being able to report from the country itself where a decision was taken by the government to expel all foreign reporters until the picture is clearer based on discovering that many of those reporters weren't innocent in distributing fake news & videos like in the case of Reuters Jordanian reporter Oweis who distributed a video of an injured soldier who was shot by armed elements within a protest & confirmed so twice to the reporter while the reporter released his story that security forces shot the soldier because he refused to shoot at unarmed protesters, for the bad luck of Mr. Oweis, his interview was recorded by another reporter & when authorities matched the 2 videos Mr. Oweis was called for investigation then was expelled.


Insisting that these riots are unarmed civilian protests asking for more freedom is the biggest contribution media houses add in order to cause anarchy and create chaos in countries that have a different opinion to countries who can control these media houses such as USA and its allies.


Check our webpage given above to see how these protesters referred to as 'Peaceful Protesters' and unarmed are fully loaded up to their teeth with weapons from a butcher knife to a gun, a sniper gun, automatic machine gun to 4x4 vehicles equipped with anti-aircraft machine guns, that no country on this planet will accept to have within its people even if they have some 'freedom rights' they ask for.

Al Quds Al Arabi on the Way to 'Jazeeratizing'

"القاهرة- دمشق- (د ب أ): دعا نشطاء سوريون لمسيرات احتجاجية حاشدة الجمعة لاستنكار ما وصفوه بالصمت العربي إزاء الحملات الوحشية التي تشنها قوات نظام الرئيس بشار الأسد ضد المظاهرات المنادية بالديمقراطية.
ودعا النشطاء عبر صفحات المواقع الإلكترونية لمسيرات أطلقوا عليها (صمتكم يقتلنا) هى الأخيرة في سلسلة تظاهرات تنادي بإسقاط الأسد بعد 11 عاما أمسك فيها بزمام السلطة في البلاد.


واحتشد عشرات السوريين الأربعاء أمام مقر الجامعة العربية وسط القاهرة، مطالبين المنظمة العربية بتبنى موقف واضح حيال الاضطرابات التي تشهدها بلدهم.


وقال المتظاهرون في بيان لهم، "إن النظام السوري يقوم بارتكاب جرائم الإبادة الجماعية بحبس المدنيين بالشعب السوري، مما أدى إلى سقوط عدة آلاف بين قتيل وجريح".


وقال المتظاهرون في بيان: "إننا ندين ونشجب الصمت العربي الكامل، حيال ما يجرى في سوريا".
وفي الوقت نفسه قالت لحان التنسيق المحلية السورية عبر موقعها الإلكتروني إن قوات الجيش والأمن السورية، واصلت تعزيز انتشارها في مدينة اللاذقية غربي البلاد، وأن تعزيزات أمنية وصلت إلى منطقة الرمل الجنوبي. 


وأضاف الموقع إن دوي انفجارات قوية سمع في بعض أحياء المدينة، غير أنه لم يتسن التأكد من هذه الأنباء من مصدر مستقل.


ويقول نشطاء حقوقيون محليون إن أكثر من 1400 شخص لقوا حتفهم منذ اندلاع المظاهرات المناهضة للحكومة منتصف آذار/مارس الماضي. غير أنه يصعب التحقق من هذه الإحصاءات حيث تحظر السلطات السورية دخول معظم وسائل الإعلام الأجنبية ومنظمات حقوق الانسان الدولية إلى أراضيها."

لن تتخيلوا الكم الكبير من الاحترام اللي بيكنه الشعب السوري بشكل خاص لصحيفتكم وخطها العربي، ولكن..


لن ندافع عن نظام أو متظاهرين هنا ولكن جذبتنا المقالة أعلاه بأن طريقة تعاطيها مع الوضع في سورية تشبه إلى حد بعيد تكاد تطابق ما تقوم به الجزيرة وأخواتها من عربية وبي بي سي.. وغيرها من ناطقات باسم مخابرات أجنبية.


لا نقرأ سوى بيان عن متظاهرين مجهولين، وناطقين باسم تنسيقيات كأننا في ليبيا، ودعوات من نشطاء سوريون وآخرين حقوقيون.. وألم تلاحظوا معي أنهم كلهم نكرات بدون شخوص؟ من هم النشطاء والحقوقيين والتنسيقيات؟ مصداقياتهم؟ توجهاتهم؟ وزنهم في الشارع السوري؟ وأسئلة كثيرة أخرى عن خلفيات ناشطين كثر..


نأمل أن لا تهوي مصداقية هذا الصرح العملاق كما هوت مصداقية الجزيرة وأخواتها في الشارع السوري النابض بالعروبة حتى آخر نفس.

Interesting that you doubt the official story supported with video but u do believe unsupported claims by unreliable sources!


What is the Syrian Observatory of Human Rights? Did you check it before? It's a one man show office, same goes for the Syrian League for the Defense of Human Rights?


Reuters reporter Oweis was expelled along with other media from Syria by govt for fabricating videos, doing montage on videos & even putting words in victims mounts, asking a wounded soldier in one instance to say that he was shot by a security officer for not shooting the protesters & the wounded soldier shouts in pain it's not what happened & at the end the footage was distributed without the words of the soldier, only the words of the professional reporter.


I would stick with the story that provides more info & until the govt let media back under a new media law, keep some credibility for your agency by confirming resources before posting articles.


Hundreds of military & security personnel can only be killed by organized terrorist mobs with external and internal support backing them with money, weaponry, communication & logistics; I have one hint in mind: Foreign Intelligence Services with similar history, try CIA for instance creating local mafias especially playing on sectarian sensitivities.

Syria in the heart of the storm. Over 40 countries interfere in a single country and works publicly hard for over 5 months and covert for at least a couple of years before, and yet, the Syrian Regime is intact, not a single diplomatic defection neither a single army or security officer defector.

That should give you a hint what's happening inside this country called Syria, in spite of the hundreds of youtube footage where the maximum majority of it is unreliable, biased, in many cases staged and after that refuted with facts by the regime's state media.

A country that has a minority of every sect with a majority of Islamic Sunnis all live in harmony, it'll be very difficult to crack their living culture.

What really happened on the ground is the infiltration of tens of thousands of ex-Qaeda operatives in Iraq, Afghanistan and even in smaller numbers from Lebanon. The total number of these armed, well experienced armed gangs on a moderate count reach between 40 & 50 thousands fighters, moving with huge sums of cash between border cities in Syria and provided with high tech state of the art communication devices that works on the CIA sub-internet and has direct links through Al Thoraya Satellite telephones and connects with Al Jazeera the pan Arab news channel from Qatar. That all makes an unbiased observer to start guessing who is bearing the costs of all these enormous efforts on the ground inside Syria, keeping in mind that one single minute of connection through Al Thoraya would cost you around $30, so imagine the hours of broadcasting live.

Nobody is innocent among the international news houses, especially when they get their news from few media providers like Reuters, Al Jazeera & AFP. With each one of these reporters having a personal problem with the Syrian regime and non of them on the ground.

The biggest drama comes when these media houses depend on so-called self proclaimed 'Human Rights Activists' whom in many cases are wanted criminals or relatives of such fugitives wanted for committing criminal acts in Syria, some even as low as rape of a sister in law for one of them, and another head of a Human Rights Organization who received a $10,000 as a price of a kidney from a donor without paying the donor any single cent of it..!

Hundreds of armed individuals of Syrian, Other Arabs and even Foreign fighters are being caught, add to it what's happening in Homs, Central Syria of planting sectarian hatred and the unbelievable rude visit of the US & French Ambassadors to Hama to participate in protests against the government of the hosting country which is in contradiction of all diplomatic treaties; all of that leads to an international effort to destroy the harmony the people of Syria lives in this country for over 7000 years.

Ms. Hala Gorani is an exceptional journalist with an extensive career & an award winner of a Syrian origin, but holds in addition French & USA citizenship. Good job Hala, you are an example to every junior journalist who wants to build his /her career in journalism; only until the events started in Syria.

Any journalist takes years of hard work to build experience and earn trust, one of the main features a journalist should have is being unbiased to avoid turning into a speaker to one side on the account of another and on the account of facts on the ground.

I don't claim to be a journalist, I never worked as a journalist, and never studied journalism, I blog what I feel, I think and see, I analyze news, I write my experience, and I just used a lot of I's in one sentence to prove that.

Ms. Gorani, it was one of your tweets that spoke your mind instead of your professionalism, it's one of the tweets that represents a one sided view of what's happening in Syria instead of reading facts on ground, you've mistaken, and the size is enormous taking in consideration the size of your career.

Can you tell us what's the difference between you now and a news editor at Al Jazeera?
