Chinese FM Visits Syria and Signs an Economic and Technical Agreement

Chinese Foreign Minister Mr. Wang Yi paid a swift visit to Syria yesterday being the top Chinese official to visit the country since the beginning of the US-led war of terror against the Syrian people in early 2011, the visit was short but packed and very fruitful.

China’s Foreign Minister Meets President Assad and Syrian Officials, Signs Economic Agreement

China is taking the challenge of the US hegemony to a new level now after it stood up against NATO member states spearheaded by the US at the United Nations Security Council in defending Syria, several times, the Chinese for their first time ever used their veto power at the UNSC in foreign policy and for something not directly relating to their national security and it was an unprecedented move at the Security Council as well with the double Russian - Chinese vetos in the face of draft resolutions inked by NATO member states to repeat Libya and Iraq in Syria.

The visit to Syria is part of a regional visit for the Chinese head of diplomacy, it coincided with the Syrian President Bashar Assad taking the oath for a new presidential term starting yesterday and for 7 years, China stood firmly by Syria's side in the international arena rejecting foreign intervention in Syria's internal affairs and providing much-needed aid when really needed. Mr. Wang Yi met the Syrian president to convey his government's congratulations for the president who led his country to victory over the war of terror.

The Chinese minister conveyed his country's support for the Syrian people and inked an important agreement in economic and technical cooperation that will lead to include Syria in the Chinese mega Belt and Road project, the fruits will come soon in the infrastructure rebuilding, this agreement comes in direct defiance of the US and western sanctions imposed on the Syrian people.

However, the most important stage in reconstruction, which comes later and constitutes the most serious challenge for us, is restoring daily activity especially economic livelihood.  This requires a great deal of effort and is affected by internal factors and the external environment – namely the embargo imposed by Western countries on Syria, which has a negative affect and slows the process down.  So, reconstruction has already started, but we need more investments from within and outside the country in order to scale it up.
Question 2:  And here we ask, Mr. President, what are the most important areas in which Syria needs the help of friendly countries, including China?
President Assad:  China specifically provides assistance in reconstruction particularly in the humanitarian domain.  As I mentioned earlier, life’s necessities are water and electricity and China is providing support in these areas through humanitarian grants which we apply to the areas most in need.
In the past, we did not engage in discussions with our friends – and at the forefront China, on reconstruction because the security situation did not allow us to initiate this process on a... China Challenges US Sanctions Invites Syria to Belt and Road Project

The Chinese government has invited its Syrian counterpart to the global summit for the Chinese flagship Belt and Road initiative taking place in Beijing April 25 through April 27 among 120 countries.

Syria’s invitation, attendance, and contribution in the mega development being an essential part in West Asia is a clear indication that the Chinese government does not weigh the unilateral sanctions and blockade the regimes of Donald Trump and his EU lackeys and Gulfies satellite fiefdoms impose on the Arab Republic.

Belt and Road is China’s strategic 3 decades infrastructure investment project with countries along the ancient Chinese Silk Road, and beyond, engaging all the countries in its route economically away from political pressures and dominance and to the best of the nations involved, and the rest of the world.

The junta leading the USA have done their best to complete... Continue reading: https://www.syrianews.cc/china-challenges-us-sanctions-invites-syria-tbelt-road/
