Syrian President Assad Inspects the Aftermath of the Fires in the Coastal Region

Syrian President Bashar Al Assad visited a number of villages and towns in the countryside of the coastal province of Latakia to inspect the aftermath of the fires that engulfed the region over three days earlier this week.



The Syrian President told the locals the state will bear most of the financial burden from the fires, he described what happened as a national disaster.

A large number of fires simultaneously started in more than 100 places in the provinces of Homs, Tartous, and Latakia, the number of fires and the timing rose suspicion of being the work of arsonists.

President Assad heard from the locals about the damages and their immediate needs and gave his instructions to the accompanying officials to meet those needs immediately.

The Syrian President also discussed the replanting of the forests which were affected by the fires.
